Online Presence

After reading social networking has its perks and several other articles on online identities one thought came to mind: be careful what you put online. Recruiters are actively looking at your presence online to make you more than just a name on a resume. What they find could possibly come back to haunt you. Where this becomes more and more apparent as you get older is facebook. Half of my friends, and myself have hidden pictures and name changing is becoming more and more popular as people look for jobs. On that same token, your online presence can help you if you take time to ensure that it presents you well.

  1. With employers going online to look at you for jobs, it is becoming even more important to keep a clean image up online. It could make the difference between getting a job and not getting one.

  2. Your definitely right about all of that, which is one of the reasons why I hate facebook because I think its kind of a unfair to have stuff for you and your friends to look at, but then it can be easily accessed by other people. So there goes all your personal stuff but yes your right we also should keep everything neat and tidy on the prospect that people can see our facebook. I would say that maybe having professional stuff like Linkedin and maybe a professional facebook page might keep them at bay. Hopefully.

  3. I feel as though there isn't enough privacy when it comes to keeping your presence low key. I do understand the fact that companies want to know as much as possible about you before you even walk in for an interview, but why not leave judgment to a face-to-face encounter?
